LOOK BEYOND THE TRAVEL AGENT
If you buy your insurance from a travel agent, chances are you’re paying far more than you would if you bought it elsewhere.
Despite the fact most tour operators and travel agent’s policies offer relatively poor levels of cover and cost significantly more than those of on offer from high street providers, Defaqto estimated 60 per cent of travellers still buy their insurance through this channel.
And don’t assume if you pay more, you get a better deal, as expensive travel insurance doesn’t necessarily equate to quality cover. In fact, some of the best known high street travel agents and big name tour operators have some of the worst cover in their basic policies.
